Over 300 years old, Beghleti Mosque is one of the oldest and important landmarks in Georgia. Originally built in 1650-1700, the mosque was restored in XIX c. after the first structure burned down. Though it served as a warehouse during the Soviet era, its rich history and unique artistry have still survived. The mosque is decorated with the vibrant wall paintings, featuring motifs like folded scarves, lemon trees, and golden floral bouquets. The stunning blue and pink bubble-shaped designs and the intricate wood carvings on the ceiling medallion showcase a blend of local and Islamic craftsmanship. In 2006, Beghleti Mosque was officially recognized as a cultural monument of national importance where you can explore enduring elegance of Georgian architecture and artistry.
Visit Rabat Fortress in Akhaltsikhe;
Rabati Fortress, originally known as “Lomsia Castle,” was built in the 9th century in Akhaltsikhe. The castle complex, spanning 8 hectares, showcases buildings from the 9th to 19th centuries, reflecting the fortress’s long and varied history. Initially rebuilt and expanded in the 12th century, the fortress evolved into a city and was renamed “Akhaltsikhe.” By the 13th century, it became the residence of the Jakeli family and the administrative hub of Meskheti. Recently renovated Rabati blends elements of Georgian, Ottoman, Russian, Hebrew, and Armenian architecture, highlighting the region’s historical cultural diversity. The old district of Akhaltsikhe is notable for its coexistence of various religious buildings, including a Georgian Orthodox Church, Mosque, Catholic Monastery, Synagogue and Armenian Church.

Departure from Akhaltsikhe;
Visit cave city – Vardzia;
Vardzia – monumental project from the 12th century – is a breathtaking underground city carved directly into the cliffs of southern Erusheti mountains. Conceived as both secret cave city and a monastic center it stretches over 500 meters along the slopes, with 400 rooms, 25 wine cellars, several cave churches, conference halls, bakeries, refectories and even pharmacy. The inhabitants of the city lived in rock-hewn dwellings ranging over 13 floors, a scale almost impossible to imagine at the time, tunnels, chapels, and halls connected by a labyrinth of tunnel passageways.

Paravani is the largest lake in Georgia, located amidst the stunning volcanic mountains of Javakheti. At 2,073 meters above sea level, this tranquil lake spans a vast surface area and reaches depths of up to 3.3 meters. In the winter months, Paravani Lake transforms into a frozen wonderland, with ice reaching a thickness of 47–73 cm, creating an impressive sight. Fed by snow, rain, and underground springs, the lake is a haven for nature lovers and a popular spot for fishing.
Saghamo Lake, situated at 1,996 meters above sea level, offers tranquil scenery surrounded by volcanic hills. The lake sits in a basin with a maximum depth of 2.3 meters. The Paravan River flowing through, connects Saghamo Lake to nearby Paravani Lake. Fed by rain, snow, and underground springs, this tectonic-origin lake boasts a shelter for those seeking a serene nature.
